Why do I have to say I deeply love and accept myself?

I deeply love and accept myself:-

Yes it sounds very American!!

In order for EFT to work it is important that we accept the way we feel.

Often we don’t want to admit to ourselves how we actually feel, for fear that it may make us feel worse

There are 3 very good reasons for using this phrase

1 – accepting that we feel this way

2 – in accepting this is the way we feel, forgiving ourselves for feeling that way

3 – admitting that even though we feel this way – we can still appreciate ourselves and we don’t (or don’t want to) hate ourselves for feeling that way, or even though we have the problem we really are not a bad person and are proud of ourselves for who we are (even though we aren’t perfect – we’re ok!!).

The fantastic thing about EFT is that you are now preparing to reduce those negative feelings, in order to reduce them you should try and feel them as accurately as possible.

The set up phrase as a whole has an extra element.

We start by stating the way we feel

Then accept the way we feel

Then accept ourselves for feeling that way

For example

Even though I feel angry about the time my mother locked me in the cupboard

(at this point we would want to really be feeling that anger)

I deeply love and accept myself

Loving yourself is the greatest gift you can give yourself. Sometimes people just can’t say or do that.

Maybe – “I would like to be able to love and accept myself” is a more acceptable phrase

Or possibly even – I accept that this is just the way I feel, which might suit most people.
